In 2017 Moira Baptist Church celebrates 30 years of witness in the village. From April 1995 to April 2003 I was Pastor of Moira Baptist Church. In December 2001 I was suddenly taken ill and eventually had to accept that my days of public ministry in Moira were over. I have continued to serve in the background of church life, particularly overseeing its online ministry. We were one of the first Baptist churches in Ireland to have a web site and I was webmaster from 1999 to 2016.

Just before taking ill, I had written a paper on the history of Moira Baptist Church for the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland Historical Society. That formed the basis of what has grown to be an account of the first twenty years. No doubt someone from the church will one day write an updated account of the years from 2007 to 2017 but for now I share this with all who might be interested in how the Baptists began in Moira.
